Gift Annuity Examples

The rate of return for the Al Sigl Center Charitable Gift Annuity is based on the age of the person or persons who receive the payments. The older the beneficiary, the higher the rate of return (payments). We will be happy to furnish payout rates for one or two lives for either an immediate or deferred annuity on request.

Example 1
Mrs. Johnson, age 72
$5,000 cash gift
Annuity rate of 6.7%
Annuity payment of $335
Tax-free portion is $218
Current year Charitable tax
     deduction of $1,830.50
Example 2
Mr. and Mrs. Noble, ages 65 and 63
$10,000 appreciated stock, cost basis of $6,500
Annuity rate of 5.6%
Annuity payment of $560
Tax-free portion is $176.84
Capital gain income is $147.96
Current year Charitable tax deduction of $1,591.70

Example 3: Single Gift Annuity: $10,000 cash gift;
28% income tax bracket is assumed.
