Rochester Rehabilitation Center puts people back to work and fosters active living.

More than 5,000 adults with physical or emotional disabilities and other barriers to employment and independent living

Programs

VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION SERVICES

  • The Employment Connection - provides employment services and placement by job matching people with disabilities and economic disadvantages with local companies.
  • The Out-Source - offers training, community rehabilitation services, and work experience to people with disabilities through contracted light industrial, manufacturing, and janitorial cleaning services to businesses as well as through Parrett Paper (a unique line of greeting cards) and document imaging business ventures.

REHABILITATION SUPPORT SERVICES

  • Driver Evaluation & Training - the only comprehensive driver rehab program in New York State with a wide variety of vehicles equipped with the latest high tech adaptive equipment. Offers driver evaluation, training, and adaptive equipment recommendations to people with disabilities and senior citizens. Has satellite programs in Buffalo, Syracuse, and Utica.
  • Arrive Alive - New York State Drinking Driver Education Program.
  • SportsNet - provides inclusive sports and recreation opportunities for people with disabilities and those without. Introduced sled hockey, wheelchair power soccer, and adaptive canoeing to the area. Other activities include wheelchair basketball, golf, sailing, Tai Chi, tennis and aquatics. Partners with several community organizations such as Genesee Waterways.

OUTPATIENT REHABILIATION SERVICES

  • Physical, Occupational, Speech, and Massage Therapy - offers comprehensive services for people recovering from disabling injuries and illnesses ranging from a stroke to tennis elbow. Orthopedic, visual, vestibular, arthritis, and lymphedema therapy are also provided.
  • Aquatic Therapy - helps relieve joint pain and improve mobility through exercise in one of the few warm water pools in the area.

MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

  • Outpatient Adult Clinic - provides individual, group, and family psychotherapy.
  • Ventures IPRT - helps people recovering from mental illness set and achieve personal goals in working, learning, social or living environments. Partners with University of Rochester's Strong Ties.
  • Continuing Day Treatment Programs, Futures and Senior Connection - offers on-going care and support for adults recovering from persistent mental illness through structured group oriented activities.
  • Partial Hospitalization - provides crisis intervention for senior citizens to help avoid the need for hospitalization or as follow-up to hospitalization. Only program of its kind in the area.
  • Community Support Services - provides agency mental health clients advocacy, monitoring, and linkages to needed community services.
  • Men's Education For Non-Violence (MEN's) Workshop - for men who have been physically, mentally and/or emotionally abusive to their current or former partners. Educates men about changing their attitudes and behaviors to help break the cycle of domestic violence.

Locations
Rochester Rehab's administrative offices, physical, psychiatric and driver evaluation services are located at the Elmwood Campus. The Intensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program and vocational rehabilitation services are provided at other sites throughout the community. Driver Rehabilitation has branches in Syracuse, Buffalo, and Utica.
